Awakening Curriculum

Lesson plans for teachers

Time to Teach A Course in Miracles revolves around weekly topic assignments. Each topic assignment is a blueprint for understanding one of the central A Course in Miracles’ topics. All topic assignments are organized in one coherent awakening curriculum.

Phases

The curriculum consists of the four phases in your awakening through A Course in Miracles. You start at initiation, progress to dedication, undergo a transformation and graduate through declaration. Each phase is broken down further into three theme series. The Initiation phase, for example, includes a theme series on Miracles, Perception, and Forgiveness. Each theme series has four topic assignments. The whole curriculum therefore includes a total of forty eight topic assignments (4×3×4=48).

Focus points

Focus points lend coherence to the four topic assignments within each theme series. A theme series focuses first on the Intention, second on the Action, third on the Recognition and fourth on the Experience of the theme. The theme series on Perception, for example, has a topic-assignment entitled Desire to See (Intention), As Within so Without (Action), Bright New World (Recognition), and The Last Step (Experience).

Intention

In the first topic of each theme series you determine the goal and acquire the proper frame of mind to study and teach the theme.

Action

In the second topic you practice the principles and bring about an immediate change.

Recognition

In the third topic you recognize what you knew before and will know again.

Experience

In the last topic of each theme series you experience what neither words nor concepts can teach.
