My story, a fairy taleAndy SearsI was born into a body on Dec 21, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, born as a male, at 9:05 pm, weight 8lbs 6oz. I know this is so because it says so on my birth certificate, and on the backside a tiny baby footprint, obviously, mine. This is what my baby body came equipped with; Eyes for seeing, ears for hearing, touch for exploring, taste for eating, and nose for smelling. These 5 senses are everything, everything I know myself to be. In time, Andrew, the name I inherited from my mother’s father, grew bigger and bigger and I accumulated more and more experiences. At about 5 years old I had become very well versed in remembering yesterday. This, I now know is my story, my first memories of being consciously aware of myself. This is the story I called Andrew, and as far as I know it is who I am. I mean I’ve never been anyone else, not even in a past life that I can remember. Now I have years and years of stories about myself. This background of knowledge became the who, what, and where of me based on my memories of my experiences in the past. One of my first memories is that of my grandmother dying. I was five years old and did not know anything about death. My parents told me my grandmother was sleeping and she would wake up in Heaven. All I knew was everyone was very upset about this death “thing,” including me. I couldn’t understand how anyone could die. All I knew is that body in the coffin was not my grandmother and she was not sleeping. I was confused and in total fear because I could not understand. Needless to say I had trouble sleeping from then on, thinking I would not wake up in the morning after going to sleep the night before. What a place to find myself. I arrived here in a baby’s body to mature, live a while, get sick, and then die. End of story! Not quite, but for many years this was my predicament along with everyone else I knew. Then I found a book called “A Course in Miracles” by Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said “There is no death and if you follow me I will teach you everything I know.” All I need do is read His book and follow His instructions. He said, “This is a simple step by step guide that will light my path and go beyond death.” Wow OK! I want that! A Course in Miracles is divided into three sections: text, workbook, and manual for teachers. I won’t get into the teachers manual but after reading the text which prepares my mind for the workbook, then I’m ready to do the lessons. The lessons are my step by step guide into training my mind to think along the lines Jesus wants me to think, to think differently than I do now. One lesson a day for a full year. Lesson #1, Nothing I see means anything. Wow! What does that mean? It means nothing I see means anything! This first lesson is the entrance to a whole new world. A world I had heard existed but had no idea how to access. It teaches me through mind training, how to train my mind to have a whole new experience of myself. An experience Jesus calls a Miracle. Wow! Yes, Wow! It’s a Miracle! It’s a Miracle experience I came HERE to have. Now I have a reason (other than death) to be here. This Miracle is explained in many ways because Jesus wants to present the idea to me so I can hear it one way or another. He teaches me about Christ vision, Holy Instant, Light, Vision, Seeing, Forgiveness, Creation, Communication with my Creator, Atonement, Wow! Jesus teaches using every angle available in my mind to show me to go beyond my past. This is beyond my beliefs; this is letting go and letting God. This is an experience of “I and the Father are One!” Jesus teaches not only by many angles and viewpoints, but by repetition, over and over so I will understand what he says sooner or later. And what does he say over and over? I am the guiltless and Holy Son of God, still as I was created in the beginning, before the world was made, and will be and am forever more. Jesus shows me I’m not my story, born into a body destined to die. I only believed I was my body. Believing that I’m a body follows the laws of a body. A body identity leaves no space for the truth. If I’m not a body what am I? I am Spirit now and forever. It’s an experience right here, right now. You may not believe it. I didn’t. But ask yourselves one question. Do you want to believe it? If you do not know you are Spirit, you do not know who you are and you will think you are a fleshy body; you will think you will get old; you will think you will get sick and die. Jesus says death is simply not true. I cannot prove a Miracle experience to you. You have to have that experience for yourself. Do you want that experience? Then let Jesus through “A Course in Miracles” prove the Miracle to you. You are that Miracle. You are created by God for this purpose. You are the Light of the world. You are not born to die. You are not a body. You are Spirit. “I and the Father are one.” Does it work? It worked for me. It will work for you if you want it to. Do you want it to? Do you want life eternal right now? Wow! |
