Performing Miracles 101

Karyn Aldin
Back by popular demand (although the instructor has indicated it is actually back by popular denial… whatever that means)

Class:          Performing Miracles 101
Instructor:    Jesus Christ

Class description:
This class offers students the basic tools needed for performing miracles.  Storytelling (parables), acts of love and forgiveness, and field trips (a day out in a fishing boat, 40 days or so in a local desert, etc.) will be the types of activities included in this course.

A final sermon must be given on a mount demonstrating the love that you are to complete the course.  However, other than your active Presence in the classes, no preparation for this sermon is necessary, or even recommended.  The exposure of your heart/innocence is the intended goal.

Class requirement:
  Come as a little child

Following is a summation of the teachings that occurred during the last offering of this class, as recorded by a class auditor (by permission, of course.  Jesus was very gracious as he said he would like to get the word out – actually he said “over and out”):

Dear readers, could I tell you all that occurred during this 3 month class, it would blow you away (which is kind of what happened to most the students when the course ended on Easter Sunday).  But Jesus was pretty clear with me about not emphasizing the phenomenal content of the many class gatherings.  Instead I was asked to relate the basic characteristics and the realized or observed requirements for performing miracles (thus at least satisfying or upholding the idea behind the class title).

The tough thing that it seemed Jesus was trying to get everyone to get was that each student was really only some idea, i.e. “a thought”, he said.  No one took much liking to that, because it encompassed the next idea Jesus continually tried to convey, which was basically that no one in the class really existed.  There were strong objections to this teaching, to which Jesus replied “that’s exactly what you are as you present yourself – a “strong objection”, thus for the moment, apparently an “object”, or thing, or existence.  Then he would wink, and so no one dropped the class (no one really understood what was going on, I guess, and the winks made him very likable).

Jesus attempted to demonstrate this “everything is a thought” thing on one of the class outings – a fishing field trip.  Immediately it was confusing to everyone, because even though 144 students signed up for this class (and none were excluded), on this particular field trip day, there was only one boat with enough room for about 12 guys.  Together they caught about 10 fish or so - I don’t remember exactly.  Yet by late in the day, everyone was pretty hungry.  Apparently the only available food, though, was some bread one of the guys brought in his coat pocket, and these 10 fish.

The next thing that happened pretty well demonstrated why Jesus had become so popular, outside of his occasional winks.  He began dividing this bread and fish up, handing it out to all the students, and a lot of the guys were even stuffed by the end of dinner.  Though Jesus didn’t much approve of them stuffing themselves, he didn’t get in the way of anyone making a fool of him/herself when that was what was desired.  “Free choice”, he said, and winked again.  That particular wink felt a little troublesome to me, for whatever reason.

So what was the lesson?  How did he multiply these fish and the bread like that?  There were a couple magicians in this student group who had some theories.  But Jesus returned to the basic tenant that everything we see is the result of a desired thought.  He asked everyone what they had thought about apparently having only a bit of bread and some fish available for dinner for all, and here are some of the thoughts offered:

“There’s not nearly enough for everyone.”

“I hope he passes it to the left first (where that particular person was sitting).

“I don’t like fish anyway.”

“If I fast, I’ll probably get a better grade.”  (He forgot it was kind of pass/fail.)

“We could divide the portions up really little.”Jesus commented these were all limited ideas, or again, thoughts.  Now it got kind of serious for a moment as he offered a “simple” thought, with no attachments, or as he said, “no past ideas associated with it”.  It was a now thought, and included his experience of love for each of the students.  Jesus’ thought was “I love my brothers, and now I’m going to feed them, because they think they’re hungry.”  That was that!

Most felt a bit awestruck.  It appeared that many of them actually “got it”!  The thought Jesus expressed contained no appendages, so to speak… no additional statements that might include some idea that there was nothing in the entire universe that was not available to each one right now.  And if I’m willing to accept that everything is only a thought, then if I truly believe I’m going to feed everyone right now, the thought of “plenty of fish and bread is available” must be included in that thought.  Fish are thoughts!  Bread is thought! Their manifestation was based simply on an unquestionable faith – no past ideas. This accepted, the world truly could not be objective or solid, so to speak, but composed of spirit, or my heart/desire.  “Spiritual thought.”

There was only one guy who said something like, “What do you mean I think I’m hungry, Jesus?  I am really hungry!”  But that wasn’t bad out of 144.

I just realized, that though I had indicated to Jesus that I wouldn’t get into relaying the  phenomenal stuff, I already kind of blew it with what I’ve expressed so far.  Lucky Jesus is a forgiving kind of guy.

That said, I don’t think I can really relay much more of the content from all the other classes, because amazing stuff kept happening.  But there were a few ideas Jesus wanted me to put out there about miracles in general, and so they follow next.  He said to remind you though, that if you just accepted that this world is spiritual, not physical, based on how/what you love/think, the miracle thing could (and will) become very natural and easy for you.  Apologies though, that as you conceive yourself, it’s true that you actually don’t exist – I guess you could say you’re more of an eternally morphing love substance that fluxes to reflect how you think, and can indeed get very shiny the less you think.

So here are the miracle ideas he wants you to take to heart:

“Every expression of love that comes from you will result in a miracle somewhere.”

“There is absolutely no order of difficulty in miracles.”  (He would like you to repeat that over and over and over and over… and finally come to know it’s true, because you are not, nor will you ever be, ever limited in any regard.  Your mind is absolutely free, and you are not your body.  Nothing you see is solid in that regard.)

“Look on devastation, and know you simply look upon the mirror of your mind.  Forgive yourself this appearance, and know (have absolute faith) that it is not true.  It is your determined desire/faith that will set you free – nothing else.  It is your thought.  (What do you choose to believe?)”

“The miracle is always there.  You will see it in the light (the goal then: become light minded).  You will not see it in the dark.  But it is always there.”

Finally, no matter how dark any moment might seem to get, Jesus said to tell you he is there, and he loves you.  Call him in.  He will come… or simply knock and the door will be opened to you.  This is Miracles 101.
