How it works.Philosophy“Teaching is a method of conversion.”In Time to Teach A Course in Miracles students become teachers. It is a proven method to fulfill your calling, find your voice and express a message of light, love and transformation to this world. CurriculumTime to Teach A Course in Miracles revolves around weekly topic assignments. Each assignment is a blueprint to a clear and complete understanding of one of the central A Course in Miracles’ topics. All of the topics are organized in one coherent and dynamic curriculum. Focus pointsFour focus points create a logical progression and relationship between each of the topic assignments within one theme series. A theme series thus starts with a topic assignment that focuses on ‘Intention’, the next on ‘Action’, the third on ‘Recognition’ and the last on ‘Experience’. IntentionIntention founds the theme you teach and learn for four weeks. You discover the significance of, determine the aim for, and acquire the frame of mind appropriate for this new theme. ActionAction is the focus you need to put the principles in practice. You use your mind, the mechanism of decision, to affect an immediate change in your experience.RecognitionRecognition calls to awareness what was previously known to you, but has been obscure. You see through strengthened intention, the effects produced by the discipline of your mind and acknowledge the equality of relationships within God’s Creation.ExperienceExperience is what the previous three topics prepared you for. You complete the cycle of your awakening. You ask for an experience not of you, and revealed is what neither words nor concepts could teach. When you come back from it, you integrate and reflect the attitudes that befit the experience.PreparationThe process of preparation, as the outline of the weekly topic assignment dictates, has four phases; an ‘Orientation’, a ‘Read and Practice’, an ‘Inquiry’ and a ‘Get ready for your Presentation’ phase.Orientation• Open up to the current assignment.• Read the title and the quoted paragraph(s) directly underneath. • If the assignment has a ‘General Reading’, read that first. (Some but not all of the assignments feature a ‘General Reading’. This reading spotlights the core idea of that week’s topic. This reading usually is selected from A Course in Miracles but occasionally features a reading or relevant article from a different source.) • Look through the questions listed under ‘Inquiry’ and under ‘Presentation’. Reading and PracticeThe aim of study is determined by each week’s topic. You become a recipient to the message delivered to you. Your willingness and openness to what you read and practice leads to the natural acceptance of it. Thus you learn that understanding of content and exercise comes from direct experience.• Choose one of the clusters under ‘Reading and Practice’ as they are listed under the bold capitalized letters (A, B, C...). • Read and practice every section and lesson from your cluster. InquiryThrough Socratic questions and additional tasks, you reflect on and activate what you have learned during reading and practice. The answers given and the actions taken are a stepping stone towards finding your true voice in teaching.• Answer the questions listed under ‘Inquiry’ and write them down in your journal or notepad. • Trust yourself. Be patient and listen. The answers are within you. • If you find it helpful, reread the sections and lessons from your cluster and then return to the inquiry. • Answer the questions in your own words. Get ready for your PresentationThe truth is active and alive within you. You may be a little fearful, excited, or both. Know you are sufficiently prepared and therefore entirely ready to extend who and what you truly are. Your teaching contribution is extremely valuable and will positively affect the lives of many, whatever you may think or belief to the contrary.• Read the questions and instructions listed under ‘Presentation’. • Take a moment to reflect on your understanding and experience of this week’s topic and place it within the overall theme of the series. Look back on the ‘Reading and Practice’, and the answers you came up when you did the Inquiry. • Now, put all of that aside. Ask yourself: What do I want to teach, share and learn? PresentationYou completed the process of preparation ‘backstage’, and now it is time to go on. Your voice and the words you will speak are a synthesis of the literal messages you received and the current of all that wants to be expressed through you right now. Remember these things during your presentation:• Keep it personal. • Be honest. • Do not judge or censor yourself. • Be yourself! ClassIn a Time to Teach A Course in Miracles ‘Class’, every teacher who has done the preparation gets an opportunity to stand up and teach. The length allotted for each teaching contribution depends on the number of participants in the class. The suggested duration for one class is one, to one and a half hour for an online class and one and a half, to two hours for a ‘real life’ class. One facilitator leads the class. He or she introduces, keeps the flow of, and closes the class. No questions asked or discussions entertained. Simply one teacher at a time expresses the message in all honesty and without compromise.Participation• Be on time.• Pay attention to the introduction. • Support whoever is teaching by giving them your full attention. • Don’t correct your brother. • Don’t engage in discussion. • Be patient and tolerant. • Feel free and have fun. |
