How to facilitate a classStarting the class • Play a song, read or say a prayer, or introduce in a moment of quiet time. • Read or ask someone to read the introduction to the Manual for Teachers (Especially when you introduce new teachers to your class and the format.) • Read the quoted paragraph(s) at the top of the topic assignment out loud. • Quickly review the text sections and lessons under ‘General Reading’ and ‘Reading and Practice’. • Read the questions and tasks under ‘Inquiry’ and ‘Presentation’. • Communicate the central question or the main focus for the class. During the class• Invite each teacher to stand before the class and teach. • Encourage each teacher to come into his/her unique expression. • Rarely, do you need to correct or confront a teacher. But once in a while you may have to. • Make subtle suggestions when a teacher needs guidance or direction. • Set the positive example of what you would or would not do, during your own presentation. Your presentation —which you should reserve for yourself at the end of the class— is the designated time to correct, give feed-back or extend on what others have shared earlier in the class. • Be gentle, patient, tolerant and open-minded. • Prevent discussion or criticism between teachers. • Keep the flow, keep it open, have fun. Closing the class• Invite everyone to kneel down with you and pray from the Manual for Teachers Chapter 29 §8. And now in all your doings be you blessed. • Express yourself in prayer and invite others to express themselves. • Thank everyone for their participation and contribution. • Stand up and join in the light. • Play some music, dance, celebrate.
